StoreSentryBot
If you found StoreSentryBot/0.1 (+https://storesentry.app/bot) in your server logs, this page explains who sent those requests and how to stop them.
What it is
StoreSentry is a Shopify app that helps store owners keep an eye on price and catalog changes at stores they compete with. StoreSentryBot reads the catalog of the stores our users have added to their watch list, plus stores someone checks with our free Store Checker.
What it reads
- Shopify stores: the public
/products.jsonfeed that every Shopify storefront serves. - WooCommerce stores: the public Store API,
/wp-json/wc/store/v1/products.
From that feed we use only what it takes to spot changes: product names, brands, prices, compare-at prices, publish dates and whether an item is in stock. Descriptions and images are discarded. It is the same information any shopper sees on your storefront.
What it never does
- No logins, admin pages or private APIs.
- No carts, checkouts or orders.
- No customer, order or other personal data.
- No crawling of your regular pages.
How often
- About once an hour for each StoreSentry user who watches your store.
- Requests go one at a time: one per page of 250 products (100 on WooCommerce), with a pause between pages and a 20-second timeout.
- Free Store Checker: only when someone runs a check, at most 4 pages, and the result is cached for 10 minutes.
How to opt out
- Block the user agent. Add a rule for
StoreSentryBotin your firewall or CDN. Once requests are refused, the bot collects nothing from your store. - Or write to us. Email hello@storesentry.app with your store's domain, and we will stop checking it.
